The banana that leaves the bunch gets skinned

"The banana that leaves the bunch gets skinned" was a slogan used by credit unions in the seventies to keep them from being taken over by competing factions. I am reminded of this when looking at the various postings. I see the perfect storm coming- financial collapse, food wars due to weather upsets, caused by incoming planet X, depopulation plans, etc. It is unlikely that individuals seeking to survive on their own will succeed. For the most part, efforts will amount to no more than a child playing house. Not only will the society as we know it disappear, even the world as we know it will change.
The toughest time will be the transition, which can take several months. One needs to be out of harms way of natural calamitous events - disease, tsunamis, floods, land upheavals, people movement, riots, gangs, etc. No Individual can hold off a determined group of starving people - no matter what firepower he may have. As well, can you turn away starving elderly or children. I don't believe we have any concept of how tough things can get. A certain prophetic book talks about mothers dining on their own children. It has happened before.
I believe that I am as prepared as anyone. A good stash of PM, food preps, water filtration, survival equip, generators, inverters, batteries, wilderness survival equip, 24 volt weldor, other equip to restart civilization, non computerized diesel powered 20' cube "truck". The next step is getting the artillery. Does anybody have plans to build an old fashioned gatling gun?:D.
Me and the missus can be gone into the mountains in 2 hours, and hopefully wait out the "separation". But I believe that chances for survival will be greatly enhanced if there were a group of 3 or 4 like minded couples prepared to make a similar move. They would have gotten together previously to find a
"homestead", such as a mining claim, and done preliminary prep work on an ongoing basis. It would be an interesting way to spend a summer vacation. The hardest thing to getting such a group going is mutual distrust. Anyone having these kind of ideas must be at least a little crazy, or a religious kook. or a g-man. But if there any survivalists looking to bug out into the BC interior, I would be happy to open a dialogue. Please feel free to send a private message.

Good ideas Golden Buoy. It is really hard to find people who are like-minded and trustworthy. If you link up with someone short of these, you will have gotten yourself into a partnership from hell.

Thanks for the heads up Golden Eye. It so happens that I live only about 2 hours from Procter. I will have to start rxploring. I am close to US border and considered some American land. Nice folks there, but sorry to say, they are a little uptight there. I can't put my finger on it, but I don't feel comfortable. Plus I think when the SHTF, I'd sooner be North.

Well, don't tell too many people about your commune or THE MAN will swoop down on you and we'll get to watch the firefight on CNN.
